Ashley Furniture eyeing smaller store format
from Retail Customer Experience - February 9th, 2010
Ashley Furniture, which currently operates 390 large retail locations, is looking to open 300 smaller stores this year, according to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The store reportedly makes better use of vertical space, using what the story calls a "Hollywood Squares-style fixture" to get product up off the ground and onto the wall.
The concept also includes a simplified pricing model — all sofas for $399, for instance, or all rugs for $99.
