The Home Depot transitions to Fujitsu U-Scan retail self-checkout software

Fujitsu has announced that The Home Depot has launched an initiative to transition to Fujitsu U-Scan self-checkout software in their U.S. and Canadian retail stores. The Fujitsu U-Scan self- checkout software application has open integration architecture utilizing a VPOS (Virtual Point-of-Sale) messaging framework that enables retailers to implement business critical POS software changes more quickly and easily while avoiding costly and complicated self-checkout re-integration and lengthy testing cycles.

The Home Depot is currently completing initial proof of concept pilot testing.

The U-Scan self-checkout software is an open platform that can run on other self-checkout hardware platforms and offers retailers the ability to quickly make changes to their POS system. This means retailers can react more quickly to changing business needs and quickly deploy new POS software releases, introduce new business initiatives and update applications much faster with less risk.

The U-Scan self-checkout software's look and feel can also be easily customized to give retailers a unique and differentiating self-checkout experience. The software's messaging framework architecture allows the customer's POS to communicate efficiently and directly with the U-Scan self-checkout software without complex and fault-prone intermediate handlers or brokers.
